ABOUT US

Our Story: Rooted in Faith, Driven by Compassion
The Rock of Refuge Foundation Uganda was founded on the unwavering belief in the inherent dignity and potential of every individual. Our journey began with a response to the profound needs of vulnerable and historically underserved communities across Uganda.

Driven by our Christian faith and a commitment to justice, our work is a practical expression of God's love. We walk in solidarity with those facing systemic barriers, poverty, and trauma, offering not just aid, but a pathway to wholeness and self-reliance.

Our Guiding Principles
These are the core principles of the foundation of every decision we make and every program we run:

  • Solidarity: We do not work for the community, but with them. Every initiative is co-designed and implemented in unity, ensuring shared ownership and cultural relevance.
  • Self-Reliance: Our goal is to build local capacity. We equip communities with the skills and resources to create and sustain their own support systems, breaking dependence on external aid.
  • Sustainability: We prioritize eco-conscious, community-led solutions that ensure long-term impact for both people and the planet, honoring our role as stewards of God's creation.

SERVICES

We support local communities in Uganda, by helping them to serve children, youth, women, the elderly, and displaced persons through programs that offer not just aid, but empowerment.
Our work is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and the tools to shape their own future. The local community is part of and plays an important role in that development.

Our Five Programmatic Pillars for Holistic Change ensures that individuals and communities are supported at every level—from immediate needs to long-term empowerment:
1. Ekyaalo (The Village) ; for Immediate Refuge and Essential Support
2. Okuwona (The Healing Circle) ; for Emotional & Spiritual Well-being
3. Tuli Wamu (Together) & Ekitone Kyo Ge Maanyi Go (Harness Your Strength) ; focussed on Education, Leadership & Economic Empowerment
4. Maama Bwe Butonde (For a Healthy Mother Earth) ; concentrated around Food Security & Environmental Stewardship
5. To be described by Nkatta
